The Post Certificate in Business Administration (PCBA) is a comprehensive professional business and management development curriculum designed to equip graduates with advanced managerial and strategic planning skills essential for prominent leadership roles in contemporary business environments. The program integrates functional business disciplines with emerging technologies and global business perspectives, preparing graduates to navigate complex organizational challenges, drive innovation and make data informed strategic decisions across industry contexts. Through dynamic content that is designed to enhance and accelerate advanced learning through the combination of creative video presentations, simulations, case studies, innovative management practice and interactive learning exercises, students are provided with a unique learning experience that will enable them to acquire advanced knowledge in business administration. The course content covers a range of business and management disciplines and concepts, techniques and skills that are required to design, develop, plan and implement an effective business and management strategy. In addition, students will have access to advanced business technology and AI-enhancements that will facilitate both knowledge acquisition and future skills development while enabling students to accelerate their learning and command of the practical and technical concepts being demonstrated by instructors and leading business administration practitioners.

The PCBA is an advanced business administration program that has been designed for students who have completed an academic credential, such as a diploma and/or degree, but have decided to acquire new technical knowledge and in-demand skills as a means of changing the trajectory of their career or academic studies. Upon their successful completion of the program, graduates will be qualified to apply for management positions and occupations including those listed under NOC Code 2011 business, finance and administration occupations, professional occupations which involve analyzing the organization structure, operations and managerial methods used in a business and/or organization. The PCBA will provide access to quality post-Certificate business administration programming for students from both local and international destinations and will enable students to study in VPCBM’s supportive multi-cultural learning environment. This program will enable students to develop the essential skills necessary to succeed in the global economy while also equipping them with both the knowledge and future skills required to transition their careers and academic studies, and/or, to improve their current and future employment prospects. 

Admissions Requirement

1. Recognized certificate, diploma or degree in business, finance or administrative studies, or, completion of 90 credits in a comparable field from a recognized postsecondary institution.

2. Be at least 19 years of age or older at the start of the program.

Meets one of the options below where English is a principle language:
Option 1 – Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education from a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction, or
Option 2 – Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results will be dated no more than 2 years before the start date of the program.
o IELTS (Academic): Minimum overall score of 6.0
o TOEFL IBT: Minimum overall score of 68
o Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General: 7.0; Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test: 50
o Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 46
o Duolingo English Test (DET): 105
o Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First Exam (FCE): Minimum overall score of 160 or “C”
o Cambridge Linguaskill: Minimum overall B2 Level
o LANGAGECERT Academic: Minimum overall B2 level
o The Michigan English Test (MET): Minimum overall B2 level
o ITEP Academic: Minimum overall score of 3.5
o EIKEN: Minimum placement of Grade Pre-1

Mature student applicants:
• Applicant is 19 years or older at the start of the program and is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who cannot access is their educational records or provide sufficient evidence of secondary or post-secondary education as outlined above:
o applicant provides attestation that they have completed at least three years of full-time instruction in English in a country where the English is one of the principal languages, and
o Applicant completes an Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation: Reading, Writing and WritePlacer) and achieves the following minimum scores:
• Reading: 235
• Writing: 235
• WritePlacer: 4

Required Curriculum

The Post Certificate in Business Administration is a 10 course, 600 hour, 30 credit program that can be completed in 30 weeks via in-class and/or online instruction which enables students to complete the course content and related requirements in the most efficient and effective manner possible. The 10 course PCBA program is efficiently delivered over the course of two semesters.

Graduation Requirement

To graduate from the PCBA Program, students must:
1. Complete a minimum of 30 credits.
2. Attend at least 75% of program lectures/classes.
3. Pass each individual course with 50% or higher.
4. Achieve a minimum program 2.50 AGPA.

In addition, students may transfer up to 3 elective courses (9 credits) as breadth courses in this program.

Upon completion of this program the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

• Develop comprehensive analytical and strategic thinking capabilities by integrating financial, economic and managerial principles to assess organizational performance, identify opportunities and formulate effective business strategies.

• Cultivate advanced marketing and human resource management competencies that facilitate the development of innovative structures, develop talent management strategies and create dynamic workplace cultures that support sustainable business growth.

• Build sophisticated financial management and accounting skills required to conduct financial analysis, make various strategic investment decisions, interpret complex financial data and develop comprehensive financial planning frameworks.

• Enhance understanding of global business dynamics by examining international market trends, cross-cultural management practices and strategic approaches to managing businesses in increasingly competitive global environments.

• Leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and knowledge management systems, to develop data-driven decision making skills, optimize business processes and create innovative technological solutions to address challenges.

• Master research methodologies and critical evaluation techniques to conduct rigorous business research, generate actionable insights and apply evidence-based approaches to solving complex managerial problems.

• Develop innovation management and leadership skills that enable the development of efficient organizational processes, manage strategic change and foster a culture of continuous innovation, adaptability and improvement.
