
Most of our diploma programs have common admission requirements. The exception to these common admission standards is the Hospitality Management with English Emphasis Diploma and the Hospitality Operations Certificate, which are delivered by Vancouver Premier College of Hotel Management, for which the English requirement is different than our other diploma programs.
1. Be at least 17 years of age
2. Have graduated from high school or apply as a mature student who did not graduate from high school but is at least 19 years of age
3. Provide proof of English proficiency:
• Grade 12 or higher-level English course.
• High School English 12: C (or equivalent) from an English speaking country.
• University or College level English course (non‐ESL): C from an institution where English is the language of instruction.
English Language Test (only valid for two years):
• TOEFL: 68 iBT (with no individual score less than 16), 190 CBT, or 520 PBT
• IELTS: Academic version 6 (with no band test score less than 5.5)
• Cambridge International Exam: GCE O level C
• TOEIC: 700
• LPI: 4

2. Have completed Grade 10 or apply as a mature student who did not graduate from high school but is at least 19 years of age
3. Provide proof of English proficiency:
• Grade 10 or higher-level English course.
High School English 10: C+ (or equivalent) from an English speaking country.

TOEFL: 34 iBT (with no individual score less than 16), 100 CBT, or 410 PBT
IELTS: Academic version 4.5 (with no band test score less than 4)
Cambridge International Exam: GCE O level E

2. Have completed Grade 10 or apply as a mature student who did not graduate from high school but is at least 19 years of age
3. Provide proof of English proficiency:
• Grade 12 or higher-level English course.
High School English 12: C (or equivalent) from an English speaking country.
University or College level English course (non‐ESL): C from an institution where English is the language of instruction.
• Proof of four‐year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution where English is the principal language of the country and the language of instruction.
• English Language Test (only valid for two years):
TOEFL: 64 iBT (with no individual score less than 16), 180 CBT, or 520 PBT
IELTS: Academic version 5 (with no band test score less than 5)
Cambridge International Exam: GCE O level C

1. Recognized diploma or degree in a relevant career area or, completion of 90 credits in a relevant career area from a recognized post-secondary institution.
2. Be at least 19 years of age or older at the start of the program.
3. Meets one of the options below where English is a principle language:
Option 1 – Completion of 2 years of full-time post-secondary education from a recognized institution where English is the language of instruction, or
Option 2 – Provide verified results for one of the English language proficiency tests listed below. Test results will be dated no more than 2 years before the start date of the program.
o IELTS (Academic): Minimum overall score of 6.0
o TOEFL IBT: Minimum overall score of 68
o Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) General: 7.0
o Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test: 50
o Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 46
o Duolingo English Test (DET): 105
o Cambridge English Qualifications: B2 First Exam (FCE): Minimum overall score of 160 or “C”
o Cambridge Linguaskill: Minimum overall B2 Level
o LANGAGECERT Academic: Minimum overall B2 level
o The Michigan English Test (MET): Minimum overall B2 level
o ITEP Academic: Minimum overall score of 3.5
o EIKEN: Minimum placement of Grade Pre-1
Mature student applicants:
Applicant is 19 years or older at the start of the program and is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who cannot access is their educational records or provide sufficient evidence of secondary or post-secondary education as outlined above:
o applicant provides attestation that they have completed at least three years of full-time instruction in English in a country where the English is one of the principal languages, and
o Applicant completes an Accuplacer English Assessment (Next Generation: Reading, Writing and WritePlacer) and achieves the following minimum scores:
Reading: 235
Writing: 235
WritePlacer: 4
A mature student is someone who does not have a high school graduation transcript and is at least 19 years of age at the start date of the program.
