We are currently searching for an experienced Bell Person to join our team on a part time basis. This role is paid a wage of $20.01 per hour and requires open availability to work a combination of shifts that will include overnights which are paid at a premium rate.
Position Description
- Represent the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver by being the first and last impression for our guests
- Welcome all guests with a smile and an appropriate hospitality greeting directing them to the guest registration area
- Conduct room orientation for arriving guests to showcase room controls and features
- Ensure the timely and efficient transfer of luggage and other requested items to and from the guest room
- Promote Valet parking service to guests, while ensuring all vehicle keys are clearly identified and secured
- Ensure all entrances are free and clear of congestion for arrival and departure of guest vehicles
- Move and organize vehicles on the driveway; park and retrieve vehicles
- Complete thorough walk around of vehicles prior to parking and highlight any damage on corresponding valet ticket
- To be noticeably positioned at hotel entrance to provide luggage assistance upon arrival, and departure and assist with the loading and unloading of luggage and ensure that it is sent to the location requested by the guest
- When requested or anticipated, will provide guests with information and answers to questions about hotel facilities such as; meeting facilities, dining options, local visitor and tourist attractions, and transportation information
- Provide luggage storage assistance
- Report any suspicious or unusual behavior to hotel security services
- Maintain a presence in the Lower Lobby when not delivering luggage to guest rooms
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
- Overnight shifts will support delivery of in-room dining requests to guest rooms
- Undertakes other ad hoc related responsibilities, as required
Education & Skill Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar capacity within another luxury or upscale hotel brand is an asset
- Professional verbal communication skills
- Professional appearance and manner
- Class 5 Drivers License is required
- Valid SIR (Serving it Right) Certificate and Food Safe Level 1 is required
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including evenings, mornings, weekends, holidays and overnight shifts as required
