This course introduces students to the Canadian tourism sector and provides general knowledge of issues and trends in the tourism industry. Students will learn about the theories and motivations that effect travel and the positive and negative effects of tourism on a city, region, province or country. Students will learn about, planning, developing and marketing tourism and travel by land, sea, air, lodging, food & beverage, recreation and entertainment. The current challenges and issues facing the tourism industry will also be discussed.
